When Jo Spreckley began creating knitting patterns for miniature cycling jerseys, she never imagined it would go viral in her home town of Harrogate! The local council were impressed and asked residents to produce their own Tour de France jerseys, and then the Killinghall Women's Institute took things even further with their own Team Sky-inspired flair! The target of 3000 jerseys was quickly surpassed as thousands came flooding in from as far afield as Bermuda. It is estimated that the total number of jerseys would have taken 17 years for one person to knit - requiring 10,000 balls of wool - a thread that would stretch nearly half the route of this year's Tour de France.
